Ovia - 16 Years of Fire Rated Downlights
It was Ovia who launched the first fire-rated FlameGuard downlight within the Electrical contracting sector, and 16 years on, it’s Ovia who continue to innovate and lead the way by adapting their existing downlight range to meet the constantly changing needs of the construction industry.
As a result, electrical contractors are able to consistently rely on Ovia Lighting to provide a high quality solution to meet every challenge they face on site with the growing FlameGuard and – more recently released – Inceptor downlight ranges.
From it’s launch, Ovia’s selection of fire rated downlights have always been subject to strict testing measures to ensure they provide full compliance and will meet (and often exceed) the very latest in building regulations. As such – every Ovia fire rated downlight is tested for fire resistance compliance with all ceiling types including solid timber, I-Joists & metal web joists.
At present, Ovia offers a fire rated LED downlight product to suit a huge range of installations, and continues to focus on further developing products that deliver unrivalled quality, reliability and are designed to offer the end user the optimum in performance and energy saving.

Ovia Inceptor Omni
First launched in 2017, the Ovia Inceptor Omni range of downlights is one of the original premium Inceptor products and is fire rated for 30, 60 & 90 minutes.
With ease of installation and adaptable performance as key attributes, the Inceptor Omni’s other features include an adjustable colour temperature switch, interchangeable fixed & adjustable bezels, insulation support bracket and a prewired flow connection system.
Ovia Inceptor Nano5
The Inceptor Nano5 is a compact & dimmable fire-rated downlight that delivers a high performance for a range of domestic applications.
Available in 2 options – fixed & adjustable – both include a pre wired flow connector as standard as well as incorporating a high powered driver to provide optimum performance from the 4.8W body. What’s more, the adjustable models allows you to tilt the lamp providing 40° of flexibility. What’s more, each option comes in either cool or warm white and has a range of coloured bezels available including White, Chrome & Satin Chrome.
Both fixed adjustable Inceptor Nano5 downlights have a 30, 60 & 90 minute fire rating and are acoustic & airflow compliant.
Pico FG
The Inceptor Pico FG is a low cost fixed LED downlight that still packs a punch compared to its higher performing sibling ranges.
As well as offering a fire rating of 30, 60 & 90 minutes, the Pico FG is designed to be suitable for installation where ceiling voids are narrow. What’s more, it comes supplied with a pre-attached fly lead to make installation even easier as well as being compatible with an insulation support clip, to allow insulation to be laid directly over the top.
FlameGuard
The Flagship, award winning Ovia FlameGuard range offers a unique range of GU10 fie rated downlights that have all been tested to 30, 60 & 90 minutes.
Every lamp holder in the FlameGuard fire rated downlight selection is manufactured from a ceramic material and includes the innovative, intumescent FlameGuard seals at the top of the downlight and around the body. In the event of a fire, the intumescent seals expand, filling ventilation holes and sealing the ceiling cut out to prevent the fire from rapidly spreading.
Much like the Ovia Inceptor downlights, the FlameGuard range also come with an easy to install flow connector as standard.
